Story of Noah's Ark

According to chapters six through nine in The Book of Genesis, the story of Noah’s ark begins with God’s disappointment of mankind.  God decides to flood the earth to rid it of evil. He however picks one man, Noah, “a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time” to carry on and replenish the earth.  God warns Noah of the flood and tells him to build an ark, and to take with him his family, and a pair, male and female, of every living creature.  With the completion of the ark “the windows of heaven were opened, and the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.” Finally, the ark lands upon the mountains of Arrarat.  At this point, Noah sends out a raven and a dove, both return without finding land. Noah again sends out the dove which returns with an olive branch, indicating that the water had receded. Upon exiting the ark, Noah offers a sacrifice to God and in return, God agreed to never flood the land like that again.
